The Descanso endurance ride couldn't have been any better. The weather was perfect (sunny with a patches of clouds), the event was well attended, and most importantly, every horse, rider, and runner (there was also a Ride & Tie) made it back into basecamp without any real mishaps. This ride, as all others, could not have been possible without the amazing support of all the volunteers, the REACT crew, our fantastic vet team, and last but not least, the incredible efforts by Terry Woolley Howe, Dr. David Howe and Jennifer Bishop.
The order is as follows: 50 milers; 25 milers.
I always try to get multiple images of each rider as they pass me but sometimes it is just not possible. This is due to many reasons but 99% of the time it is due to riders not following (or reading) the posted sign that reads, "Ride photographer up ahead. Please spread out!" I know I missed one, possibly two riders in the 50 mile ride as my camera buffer just couldn't handle all the shots I was firing at once. With respect to the 25 milers, again please spread out if you want your picture taken. Also, I do apologize for my spot around the corner for the first 25 milers. When the front runners came blasting through (at what seemed like 100mph), there was no way for me to capture everyone and more importantly, get in a better/safer location once I realized that I was in danger of startling the horses.
